Open an application from Windows forms

Question

Guys I want to know whether it is possible to open applications like wordexcel etc. from windows forms. (Just like when you click on a .doc link in your browser and the correspoding word document opens up). Any suggestions in this regard will be greatly appreciated.

In web you don't have to start the application to open a file. Like you don't have to start the word application to open a .doc file. If you just open the .doc then it opens using the default application. As far as saving the files at a particular location I think you can specify the location where you want to save the file. I am not sure about the syntax of it.

Ok but what i about if i want users to download word document pdfexcell document etc..... how can i allow them to download the file and where shall i place these files to allow people across the world to be able to open them. Thank you for you reply and i appreciate your help!!!

It isn't possible in ASP applications. Windows features are not allowed for safety reasons. It would be horrible if anyone could access the operating system like that from the web :)

take a look at System.Diagnostics.Process namespace. for example in some function: {..... Process pcs = new Process(); pcs.StartInfo.FileName = C:\1\test.doc; pcs.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = true; pcs.Start(); ......}
