I want to open any kind of file inside browser itself independent of the applications installed and without the pen/save dialog popping up...

oh yes i agree pdf is the only file type that can be opened that waybut pdf doc acquires the whole pagei need to open that in a defined region in the browser..but this cannot be achieved with word or excel like pdf...now you understand the problem rt...

I am not sure what you mean by open in a browser and I am not sure why Suthish says it is not possible. I know that if a file in a web site has a pdf extension then it is possible to browse the PDF. I assume that the PDF software must be installed in the client machine. In an equivalent manner Microsoft provides viewers for free for Office documents and I think they can show Office documents in a browser if the relevant viewer is installed in the client.

You cant open MS Office files PDFs directly inside browser. First convert it to .html or image file then open it.
