Hi Emmy, As materilized view contains precomputed results they are faster to query the answers. And they are refreshed only when needed.So the results may be little out-of-date and considering both Ofcourse, they are many other such differences like, Materialized view is nothing but a database Object similar to Tables,Indexes,Procedures etc. It contains the results of a query originating from an SQL Select Statement so they are seemingly faster to Query. The materialized view is refreshed when the query is executed. And are refreshed when required. Unlike Views, it contains data. Where are views are based on base tables. It does not contain real-time data. Materialized view are called Snapshot(In Older Versions of Oracle). Thanks, Shankar

Hi Emmy, A materialized view is a database object that contains the results of a query . They are local copies of data located remotely, or are used to create summary tables based on aggregations of a table's data. Materialized views, which store data based on remote tables, are also known as snapshots. A snapshot can be redefined as a materialized view. A materialized view is a replica of a target master from a single point in time. The master can be either a master table at a master site or a master materialized view at a materialized view site.
