How to use padding instead of using Space . What is the difference between split and using pad? Thank you Joe Wilson

The String class has two 'padding' methods: PadLeft - pads a string with leading characters up to a specified total length PadRight - pads a string with trailing characters up to a specified total length For example: string s = "Joe"; s = s.PadLeft(6, '?'); // gives ???Joe s = s.PadRight(10, '@'); // gives ???Joe@@@@ If you omit the second parameter, then spaces are used to create the padding. So this code: string s = "Joe"; s = s.PadLeft(6); s = s.PadRight(10); would have given you a string consisting of 3 spaces, Joe and then 4 more spaces. The String.Split method splits up a string based on a particular separator (or separators): string s = "The quick brown fox"; string[] words = s.Split(' '); foreach(string word in words) Console.WriteLine(word); /* output The quick brown fox */ So the Pad methods increase the length of the string but the Split method splits it up into smaller strings excluding the separators.

hi, Agree with vulpes, string has two padding methods, PadLeft and PadRight. this method create a new string that consists of an original string that is padded with trailing /leading character to the specified total length. padding chatater may be any thing. spaces, any alphabat any thing.... this returns string. Split method of string takes the character or string that indicate which character are tobe used as delimiters. it return array of string / character hope this will help you.
