This is in the exercise Question 15. I have no understanding about perfect numbers. Please help me with this program.

Perfect numbers are positive integers which are the sum of all the number's positive divisors except the number itself. It follows that 1 will always be a divisor of a perfect number and so this is why it's being added to the factors list.

From your example I come to a conclusion that factors of a particular number is within the range of half the value of that number that is why we have to divide by two. I don't know whether my conclusion is correct. For example factors of number 16(=i) is within the range of 1 to 8, that is why i/2 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16

Well, what you could do is to input a number and then use the same logic to output all its factors (other than itself) which you can then check manually to ensure it's giving the right answers. To find all the factors (>= 2) of a number, i, we only need to consider numbers If the number is even, the highest possible factor will be i / 2. If the number is odd, the highest possible factor will be i / 2 - 1. So, if we iterate from 2 up to i / 2 and test all numbers in that range, we will capture all the remaining factors (apart from 1) whether the number is odd or even.
