Play Sound

Question

Hello. If I want to play a sound that is not in wav format what should I do ? Thanks :)

This is MCI API DLL build by Microsoft Corporation, import this dll in your project & play the sound. I think you will understand to see [DllImport("winmm.dll")], other wise i say it first. You can check it, in XP the path is " C:\WINDOWS\system32\winmm.dll " Thank you! Please mark that as a n answer If that help you.

Please read the recommended articles listed at the right side of this window. Then look for more articles in this web site; there might be more. You should always do that before asking questions. Note that there are many ways to play sounds. You can use the old Windows API functions that play sounds using the computer speaker; the speaker is not a good speaker. Or you can use old Windows functions called Windows Multimedia, which is what Tanmay is suggesting. It is old but if it does what you need done then you can use it. Windows Multimedia existed in 16-bit Windows but it still works in 32-bit Windows and such. When Microsoft created 32-bit Windows they purchased software that they renamed DirectX. Part of DirectX is DirectSound. They have minor problems with .Net but very minor. You can try using DirectSound (it might be called something else now) and if you do it can do many things. There might be something new for .Net but if so then I don't know what it is. If you can be more specific about what you want to play then hopefully someone can be more specific in thier answer.
