Hi, in terms of .NET static keyword is used to declare a property or method of the type which can be directly accessed by Class name means without creating object of the class. It's faster then a normal property or method because it is a direct pointer to that. Its value remains same through out the application scope. Example public class A { public A(){} public static int Number1=10; public int Number2=20; } public class B { public void Func1(A ObjA) { MessageBox.Show(Convert.ToString(A.Number1)); MessageBox.Show(Convert.ToString(ObjA.Number2)); A.Number1 = 20; ObjA.Number2 = 25; } } public class C { public void Func2(A ObjA) { MessageBox.Show(Convert.ToString(A.Number1)); MessageBox.Show(Convert.ToString(ObjA.Number2)); } } It is a simple example where Class A contains Number1 as static variable and Number2 as normal variable. When you invoke Func1 of class B you will get 10 in first message box and 20 in another but when you invoke Func2 of Class C you will get 20 in first Message box and same 20 in another. Because A.Number1's value is changed in invocation of B.Func1() but A.Number2 remains same because when you create a new instance of A is created which will then re-assign the value of it .
