preventing submission without entering fields

Question

i have created registration form as well as login form and i want them to prevent submission without entering fields means i want the user should enter fields and then he should be allowed access. How can i achieve this?

try it once no need for serverside validation or any validation control put here your javascript code - function loginValidation() { //Code for login Validation with return fals; return true; // If all fields are valid } your button code should be like this - and put your server side code in Button1_Click in login.aspx.cs which will execute when all inputs are valid.

If that is the case then you need to refer the javascript file in the .aspx page. Drag drop the javascript file from the application folder in the .aspx page. Do like this Place this tag under the tag and put the src location of the file in the src tag above.

I guess you have written the code in .aspx.cs file. So to call code behind method using Javascript do something like this. I can see onClick event on the Button but there is no corresponding javascript defined in the source code. You need to write the javascript code also. Is it in some js file referenced from some folder in your application?

Hi Anjali put all login validation code in one javascript function i.e. LoginValidation () and return false if any of validation gets fails and return true if all inputs are valid. Do the samething for Registration also and call this function on button's OnClientClick event like below:

Put validation in your forms. In ASP.NET there are certain validators that are used to enforce putting some text in a textbox or selecting a value from a dropdownlist. RequiredFiledValidator is the one that you should use here so that the form does not get posted without entering any values.
