problem in saving other language text in Database

Hi frnds,

 I am struggling with one of the issue while saving the latvian data to the database.

if i give the text as - "Indikacijas:" it is saving as like this in db - "Indikacijas:"

I want it to show as it is in the front end.

using this link - http://www.unicodetools.com/unicode/convert-to-html.php

if i convert characters and save it will show correctly in front end. So i need a code to convert my text "Indikacijas:" as "Indikācijas:"...... Need a code for this asap.

any help appreciated.
