Remotely access the SQL 2008 database

Hi Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everybody. I want to ask you kindly to help me how to access my SQL 2008 database which is on SQL server from my computer. I tried with this page: http://www.linglom.com/2009/03/28/enable-remote-connection-on-sql-server-2008-express/ to enable remote access to SQL server database but even though I did everything I read how to solve it I can not connect to database form Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 from Server Explorer again. Happy New Year and I wish you all the best. I have created the database in the SQL Server Management Studio. And in properties->Connections  Allow remote connections to this server is checked. I have created a connection also in the Visual Studio application. I followed all the procedure stated in http://blogs.msdn.com/b/walzenbach/archive/2010/04/14/how-to-enable-remote-connections-in-sql-server-2008.aspx . But when I tried to set the permissions for the database I created database role public and guset. Only by setting the guest nothing changed but when I also entered public as role and set permissions I got an error: TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio ------------------------------ Grant failed for Database 'xxx'. I can see and chose the name of the server but not the database I am looking for.
