retrieve specific field from multi fielded dropdown list box

Question

Please help me. i have a multi fielded drop down list box like.. in my drop down list box every column look like this with these fields from database....  gender----name---phno---town---state---country  EX:- male---ashok---123456789---hyderabad---telangana---india female---sirisha---9876543---chennai---chennai----india female---sri---56743219---vijayawada---andrapradesh---india but. i want retrieve the specific field from the drop down list box column Ex:- i want print ashok (name) in another lable or text box from drop down list box in ASP.NET

Try below code: string inputStr = DropdownList1.SelectedItem.Value; string[] arrayList = inputStr.Split(new char[] { '-' '-' '-' } StringSplitOptions.RemoveEmptyEntries); string name; if (arrayList.Count() >= 2) { name = arrayList[1]; } Here DropdownList1 is value of ID attribute of DropDownlist you can change as per your need.
