Retrieve visitor opsys

Question

Hi there

Can anyone tell me please how to get teh visitor's operating system? I have tried Retrieve.browser.platform but thisonly gives me WinNT, I was hoping for Vista or XP or whatever. Any ideas guys?

Thanks Alan Yes I can see that although programatically it is a pain to write something to pull that string out of the User Agent and stick it into SQL Server. From my website I'm trying to understand who my visitors are where they are from and types of PCs - e.g. Opsys CPU Browser which I can collect and goes in to the database. Then I can see how many have PPCs and do I develop a site for these users and automatically send them there. A lot of work for a guy just renting holiday 2 apartments in the Canary Islands! I think you might be able to get the OS by parsing the output from: Request.ServerVariables[HTTP_USER_AGENT] If you look for Windows NT within the string the version number will then tell you what the OS is: 'Windows NT 4.0' = Windows NT 'Windows NT 5.0' = Windows 2000 'Windows NT 5.1' = Windows XP 'Windows NT 5.2' = Windows Server 2003 (or possibly 64 bit XP) 'Windows NT 6.0' = Windows Vista
