Saving document files to database

Question

Storing the files such as .doc .pdf to database. Before i used standard method. As field type i put binary and store everything to it. But nowadays people are telling something about blob blog storage as the most efficient. Does anyone know something about it or maybe some example of it .

By reading those answers i can conclude the only way to store the files on server is to use binary or varbinary type of fields. Yes. Large objects can be stored in SQL Server by using Binary datatype. But when you using binary datatype you should specify the length. The max length is 8000.
