Scheduling for Timetable

Hi I need an Algorithm to be used in scheduling. For example we have a some section that has a start time and end time and a group of students. We need to make schedules for them so that as much as possible no clashes occurs. Do you have an Idea of the best algorithm to be used. Thanks

hi friend if you had the studied the Designing and Analysis of Algorithm then you should remember the dentist/Clients problem. how to design an algorithm to schedule the clients of a Dentist so that they have to wait minimum time.
