Question

This is what I have done so far

                if (inputNumber >= minPayRate && inputNumber <= maxPayRate) break;

                    outPutLabel.Text = " You had used your two tries to enter valid hourly payment";

            }
            outPutLabel.Text = " Hourly pay rate {0:C}, while weekly pay rate is {1:C}", inputNumber, inputNumber * 40);

My problem is , how do i set button invisible after 2 tries? And I also have an error on last line for some reason, please help

I imagine that the code you've posted is in a button Click handler and that you want to make that button invisible after the user has had two tries to input a valid pay rate. One year of my degree included a computer science course and I wrote my first programs then in a language called ALGOL a fore-runner of PASCAL. There are some library functions that you tend to use all the time. In .NET these include the methods and properties of the String Array and the various collection classes.

It's a long time ago now but my degree's in Maths rather than Computer Science as I wanted to be an actuary at the time. It won't be long before you start thinking in code - it helps if you can remember the commoner library functions. However the problem can be getting the code out of your mind when it's time for bed ;)

Due to lack of time I sometimes do write the source code off the top of my top without the aid of a compiler which means that I'm prone to making the occasional mistake. I've done that here since this line: inputNumber = double.TryParse(inPutTextBox.Text out inputNumber); should have simply been: double.TryParse(inPutTextBox.Text out inputNumber); Although double.TryParse does return a bool to indicate whether the parsing was successful or not we're not interested in it here as the 'out' parameter inputNumber will be given a value of zero in that event which is an invalid pay rate anyway :) Strictly speaking you only need to use curly brackets in if/else statements if there's more than a single statement in the 'if' or 'else' block of code which is the case here. However you'll sometimes see it done even when there's only a single statement just for clarity.

Vulpes do you write the source code in your head without compiler? I also have a problem the inputNumber = double.TryParse(inPutTextBox.Textout inputNumber); line gives me an error saying  Cannot implicitly convert type 'bool' to 'double'   how can I fix that? Also why we always put curly brackets around every if and else statements?

lol Sam  I guess i did. But this is what I am talking about 3. a. Write a console-based program that prompts a user for an hourly pay rate. If the user enters values less than $7.50 or greater than $49.99 prompt the user again. If the user enters an invalid value again display an appropriate error message. If the user enters a valid value on either the fi rst or second attempt display the pay rate as well as the weekly rate which is calculated as 40 times the hourly rate. Save the program as SecondChancePayRate.cs. b. Create a GUI application similar to the one described in Exercise 3a. Allow the user to click a button to submit a rate. After the user has made a valid entry or after two invalid entries make the button invisible. Save the project as SecondChancePayRateGUI. This is not homework I am just practicing before 2nd C# semester will start. What button? I don't see a button so it is obviously already hidden. Unhide it by setting its Visible property to true and hide it by setting the Visible to false. I don't know what you are trying to do in the last line so I do not know how to fix it. Note that in your while loop you are calling return so the loop will always be executed only once. You probably need to use curly brackets ({}) for your if statement so the return is executed only when count is 2.
