Why not post a separate question? If you accept the answer I get the points. Anyway! 1/ If the joins are not used remove these. 2/ Do not perform group by + order by in a single select. Typically it is advisable that you perform simple select with only where clause and store result in temp table. Then perform aggregate (that is group by ) and order by on that. 3/ If possible and appropriate use view instead. 4/ Ensure you have PK or index on all columns involved in where clause and join clause.

Situation based question: I have a SQL stored procedure which returns 100000 records and each record have 50 fields. This Stored procedure returns product items on the grouping by the categories. Now I am using SELCT * command with ORDER BY clause and have some LEFT and RIGHT JOINS which is not used either in select command and WHERE clause. How can you improve the performance of Stored Procedure? Is there any other approach to provide solution?
