Hi Its based on the requirement. If you have a grid and you do not want to posted back on the every time to the server then you can use the update panel in AJAX. This time it will be the server side control. If you have requirement like you just want to check the status or simple operation then you can prefer to use the html control and use the xmlHttpRequest object in javascript. Any complex logic with the control is always prefer to use the server side control.
