Session in mvc5

Session in mvc5 action return null after a single postback while accessing the session value. all setting in webconfig are done.

For exampleconsider add to cart.when a user add item to cart I'm storing cart id into.session inside controller action.when the user adds item to cart for next timeI have tried to access the cart I'd from session.but session is empty.If I'm reading the cartid at the end of the same action I get the Id.that means session clears during postback. I have set session state in web config.and also done all other setting in webconfig.I'm working with mvc5and vs 2017.
