Shall we use output parameters in value returning methods

1.) Shall we use output (out keyword or ref keyword) parameters inside a value returning method? Please explain me Why or why not?? with an example...

1.) It is must to use the return keyword here? It depends on your requirement. if you want to return you can use otherwise leave it. 2.) I am using the output parameters to display(get) more than 1 output whereas return is used to display(get) only 1 result as output? This is by design as well as default in C#.

Shall we use output (out keyword or ref keyword) parameters inside a value returning method? Yes. you are free to use. There is no restriction. Consider the below example: public int add( out int param1 ref int param2) { param1 = 100; param1 = param1 + param2; return param1; } Also you can call this method anywhere in the class like below: int a; int b = 10; Response.Write(add( out a ref b)); It just works fine. returns 110 as a result. And the reason is it just a method that's all. C# won't bother about the param is either out or ref. At the end the method return a int value as a normal method. Hope this helps!

ok  but while I am using value returning method it is displaying an error message(red mark) if I am not using the return key word??
