Simply test that a web service is running from another app

I was wondering what the simplest way to test if a web service is running from another application given the URL of the service. Thanks Joshua

add the web service as a Web Reference to the project. (right-click on Project --> Add Web Reference...) then create an instance of the web service. then you can call the web methods of web service.

This process needs to be done programmatically. It's actually a precursor to the completion of another app. The check needs to be automated.

http://[servername or IP address]/[webservice name] you will get a page displaying the web methods for the web service. If you get a page then the webservice is running. if you don't get a page then you have a problem somewhere.
