Hi all... Please let me know... How to implement 'Single Sign On' concept in existing asp.net website? What is the advantage of this ? Thanks a lot in advance...

Dear Riddhi, Links provided by Ankur are good for webservice reference! But may I know why do you think webservice will make it faster before you invest into it? there could be many reasons for performance, it could be database response, code logic, frontend scripting? Hi.. Thats ok.... no worries... But, I guess,, there is actually no short-cut for implementing a web - service for such a big website... No other way except for copying and pasting all methods and validations.....

Dear... This this thorough analysis is going on from last 20 days.. Also, the response time of stored procedures is - Minimum - 5 seconds. Maximum -20seconds. And please..... improve your language - "but I don't want to see you posting question..." You are not anyone's boss here.....

Dear Riddhi, You can go and try Webservice, I can't stop that...it's good to learn about it.. but, I'm not convinced that you'll gain performance from Webservice over Webpages aspx I suggest to dig in more... Look at table indexes in master & transaction tables How much time stored procedures are taking to execute? Did you look at Query execution plan and assess on query cost. The other options for performance tuning you can look at is caching at server side, client side to optimize it. You can also look at CPU, Memory percent of utilization and see if Hardware is bottleneck Sorry my idea is not to restrict you trying Webservice, but I don't want to see you posting question that Webservice has also not improved performance much. So do thorough analysis....

Hi guys... I agree that webservice is not the only solution... I have searched every look and corner of the code. All queries are in stored procedures. Lines of Code are as minimum as possible. There are more than 15,000 records in each master tables (Total 4 master tables ) and more than 55,000 records in the transaction table. I want to implement a webservice and check whether the site gets faster or not when published and put on IIS. That is the only thing left out now. Rest, all the root causes are analyzed fully.

yes, JSON is lightweight data-interchange format, and XML is not well suited to data interchange, It carries a lot of baggage, and it doesn't match the data model of most programming languages.

Thanx @Sumit, I am totally agree with you, i also don't think that web services are the only way to make you website running faster, as you said there are many other factors which is equally responsible for performance. Web Service is only a software program that uses XML to exchange information with other software via common internet protocols. In a simple sense, Web Services are a way for interacting with objects over the Internet.

I want to know how to add a service in existing website. Is there any way to do it in smaller duration time period ?? This website is really long - more than 15 class files, more than 100 methods, and nearly 70 web pages. Thanks a lot once again.

Dear Riddhi Sorry for this long thread! To implement SSO you can do via multiple ways - Using ads credentials, so C# provides way to read user's Ads credentials and if the user is part of your ADS (Active directory services) then the user will be authenticated automatically. Now once authenticated, you can keep user's information in session variable like Session.isAuthenticated = true and you can check this property at major events. - As you're using Oracle, you can create User table in database and store user's name & passwords. Now you can compare against database and check user's authentication. Once authenticated you can again keep the information in session. Session works by creating cookie inside and this cookie is passed with each interaction with the website (server). Because HTTP is stateless protocol. SSO means you login once and the same login can be used for other applications hosted at same domain.
