SQL Function for XML search

Hi Can anyone tell me how to create SQL function to filter for attributes and elements from the given XML string . Thanks Sathish

Sample XML value in Table: name = paramA value = valueA /> name = paramB value = valueB /> ... Sample Query: SELECT xmlCol . value ( '(/container/param[@name=paramB]/@value)[1]'  'varchar(50)' ) FROM MyTable
