SQL Server is taking long time to retrieve data

Question

Hi Im working in Sql 2005 my database is not so big but when i retrieve data to generate any reports it takes long time to retrieve data. Even though i have executed sp_updatestatsstill im facing the same problem. Pls tell me the solution. Thanks in advance Mehul

Do following steps. 1)Go to Management studio. 2)in object explorer  you will find your comp name. 3)right click on it and select properties 4)go to memory and reduce memory to 200 or 300 mb  depending upon your pc and now see result. This will work fine in my pc so I hope it will work on your pc too Thanks Harsh Pandit

There may be several reasons for that. 1. Network speed between the application and the server 2. Your code - Buggy code 3. System resources - not enough memory and space on the server 4. Data Size - If you are loading load of data.
