how to count the total salary which based on Deptname wise. i have 50rows with empidempnamedeptnamesalary. i want to count the total salary dept wise. please help me Thanks in advance.

In that example they created subgroup manually. You also can divide your records in groups depends upon some condition. And as per example they give all code to show subgroups in datagrid.

Select DeptName SUM(Salary) as TotalSalary from EmpTable group by DeptName this query is executing successfully in sql server.but not in visual studio.
