SSL on SQL server

Question

anyone please help me and guide me. i'm new to SSL how you enable SSL on SQLserver? and how to use .net application with the ssl SQL server. Thanks in advance.

There are two things about encryption with respect to SQL Server. 1/ Encrypt sensitive personal data in particular column(s) in particular table(s) for example social security number (SSN) or date of birth email address etc. 2/ Encrypt the data transferred between client and server. This is identical to what happens between web-server and browser when we access https:// (secure) web-sites. It is assumed that your question is about point 2 above. If yes there are two ways to go about it. a/ You can have a self-signed certificate and use it. https://devcenter.heroku.com/articles/ssl-certificate-self OR b/ You can get a certificate from a certificate authority. - It is a slightly complicated process - just like getting your passport from a local authority.
