Stat Tracker

Question

I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. I want to try and create an app Stat Tracker for a professional sports team. For ex. professional history stats and a live stats during games, incorporate videos and photos, personal history.

Any ideas would be great. Just point in the right direction would be a huge start for me going forward.

Very good. You have a good start. Something else I would probably do is a search such as team player games statistics - Google Search . That hopefully gives you more ideas of what data you want. For example the following seems to be similar to what you are doing. There are probably also some sample databases that will help, so if you look in sample Access databases and sample MySQL databases you might find some that will also help. Are you familiar with primary and foreign keys? I am not sure of the correct terminology, but you need to have a way to relate the tables. Most or all of your tables will have a primary key; such as a player name or a player id for a player, and a team name or team id for a team. Then the player record would have the team name or team id as the foreign key and the team record would have it as the primary key. Then you can create a relationship between them. If you need help understanding then that is what articles and books can help with.

Ok. So my database would look something like this I assume: TBL1 -City -Stadium -Team TBL2 -Players -Dates that they were members of team TBL3 -Individual Player -Current Team TBL4 -Games TBL5 -Game Activity TBL -Stats

I think the data somewhat depends on the sports and I don't know enough about sports to offer reliable suggestions. It is my understanding that for Baseball and (American) Football, each team is associtaed with a city and each city has a stadium and all stadiums with games are associated with a city with a team. I know you know the answer about that but I am saying that because I assume you coul have just one database table that is for a city and the stadium and the team. That would be very different for other sports such as Tennis and Golf, right? You would want a separate table of team members (with dates that they were teram members). Since a player can switch teams, I assume you would want a table for each player . You would want a table of games. You might want another table about what happened during the game, such as how play happens. Statistical data such as Homeruns, Hits, Average, Walks and Strikeouts are unique to Baseball, correct? So you would need a separate table for statistical data for other sports.

Good questions Mahesh. I'm thinking like fantasy sports app for a particular team on a player by player basis, but for my own use on my pc at home. The app will need the internet to access live streaming data during games (Not sure how to go about this one). Question1 - I would add data initially, not sure about live statistical data. Question2 -Data consists of statistical data (Homeruns, Hits, Average, Walks, Strikeouts, etc.), biography, highlight videos and photos. Question3 - I will access data from my home pc connected to the internet. Question4 - Data can be built in and data should be added (statistical info) from the internet. Question5 - Any pc user with internet access.

Need more details. Who is going to add data? What kind of data? Who and how people will access data? Where data is coming from? Who are your users?
