Static Override Method

Hi Friends.... Can we declare override method is static and original method is non static ? Please explain ? Thanks.....

Hi Vineet No you cannot the signature of the virtual method must remain the same only the keyword virtual is changed to keyword override . //Base Class Public Class BaseClass { public virtual string Name() { return my name; } } //Derived Class Public Class DerivedClass { public override string Name() { return my name is abcd; } } Thanks

Hi No We can't do this because Static Members can not be marked as a virtual abstract or override.

No virtual methods and their overrides are always instance methods. When a virtual method is called the run-time type of the associated object determines which version of the virtual method gets called not it's compile time type. Static methods would make no sense in this context because they are not associated with a particular object they refer to the class as a whole.
