String and string different?

Question

Hi all i have a very 'newbie' question... i have noticed that there are two ways to declare some of the basic types... ie. String and string as well as Integer and int. my question is are there any major differences/functionalities between the two types or are they exactly the same thing? cheers adam

You should always spell the data types in lowercase letters and as a reserved word if spelled correctly the data type will appear in a blue font. BUT  there are actually a couple of data type declarations that the software will understand even if you start them with a capital letter: decimal ; double ; char ; string ; byte ; and sbyte . If you start the spelling any of these data types with an uppercase letter the compiler will still understand them but since they will not be spelled as per the list of reserved words they will not appear in your code with a blue font.

Adam: They are the same thing; string is an alias that maps to System.String; you can use them interchangeably.
