Hi Friends Why is the String class declared final?

So that it cannot be inherited from. The designers of the Java class libraries evidently didn't think that this would be a good idea.

Because the framework do not want to allow further inheritance on String class. String is a highly used instance by the frame work itself allowing inheritance may cause problem on their Framework's existing functionality that uses the String. There may be better reason that M/S can give.
