The path array will contain each directory in the file path as a separate element. For example if my filename is C:\Windows\foo.txt and I execute: string[] path = filename.Split('\') Then the path array will contain the following elements: path[0] = C: path[1] = Windows path[2] = foo.txt To retrieve the array you'll have to cast the session variable as a string array as Dorababu explained. If you want to store the path as one string instead of an array then you can just do this: Session[path] = asyncImage.PostedFile.FileName;

This is a sample try it as per your string [] a = new string []{ a  b  c }; Session [ values ] = a ; And in the next page you can retrieve it like this. string [] a = ( string []) Session [ values ]

Haven't tried this but it looks correct -- it's a one-line method to return a file list based on multiple filters (they need to be in one string delimited with pipes (|): private static string[] GetFiles(string sourceFolder string filters System.IO.SearchOption searchOption) { return filters.Split('|').SelectMany(filter => System.IO.Directory.GetFiles(sourceFolder filter searchOption)).ToArray(); }

Don't call Session.Abandon within the Session_End event. Abandon() triggers that event so you could very well cause a recursive loop and blow up with a stack overflow exception.
