Subroutines in C#

Question

Hi friends Would you like to tell me that why we used subroutines? Please give any example that how it is useful in programming scenario and also tell me how many value it will capable to return?

As Vulpes indicated the terms subroutine function and method are all the same thing; at least for C#. In other languages there might be a litttle difference between a function and a method but that is minor even for other languages. In C# there is also something called a property but for here I will consider a property to essentially be a method also. So in C# everything is a method! Everything that is done in terms of processing is done in a method. Everything!

First of all what are called functions sub-routines or procedures in some programming languages are usually called 'methods' in C# which is a term used in 'object oriented' programming generally. The idea is that a class encapsulates some data (known as 'fields') and the actions (or 'methods') which can be applied to that data. Methods also avoid having to duplicate code (to repeat an action you simply call the method again) and the action they perform can be customized by passing them parameters. Methods can return a single value of a particular type or they can return no value (a 'void' method). It's also possible for a method to indirectly return additional values by returning some sort of structure/collection or by means of 'out' parameters which have to be assigned to before the method returns and whose value is then available to the calling code. In some languages such as VB.NET a distinction is made between sub-routines ('Sub' methods) which return no value or functions ('Function' methods) which do return a value. However this distinction is not made in C#.
