The tools version 3.5 unrecognized

I am using visual studio 2008 after I installed it on my laptop i get this error when I open or create a project solution "The tools version 3.5 unrecognized". what should I do? can someone help me. Thanks!

Apply the following fix. Make sure these keys are present in the registry. If not present add it. This should resolve this issue. Yeah you can always remove all the VS 2008 related products going to add remove programs you can remove it but try installing the Framework 3.5 SP1 as a last option. Thanks Lisa

i have un-installed it then reinstall it again but it looks like still the same. is there a way to remove complete all visual studio 2008 related programs? thanks.
