Third party tool mono for creating iphone's application in .net?

I wanna know that when microsoft takes pain of developing large collection of libraries and classes than why go for a third party help ?

Unlike normal .NET or Mono applications MonoTouch apps are compiled directly to native code for the iPhone. The Mono guys had to do this because 'just in time compilers' can't run on the device. You can hardly expect Microsoft themselves to go to all this trouble to support programming on a rival device to Windows Phone 7.
