This might be a basic question but plzzz help me !

Question

I want to set some fields as readonly. I could successfully set this for textbox controls. But couldn't do for textArea and DropDownBoxes. I did not find any attribute for this fields.

Please suggest me how to set them.

I do not want to disable the controls since that would make the inner text faded. When I say readonly for dropdown box it means that selection shouldn't be allowed. In case of textarea also I want to make it read only dont want to disable. Thanks.

I believe dropdown boxes are readonly by nature.

Hi Try enabled property. That should work in IE but may not in other browsers.And try handling keypress and mousepress events.
