Threading doubt..

Question

I wanted to run a method that scans the entire hard disk for video files but the thing is that it takes a lot of time so i wanted to display a message displaying that the scanning is in progress. can anyone please tell me how i can achieve this?? or even point me in the right direction!

If you use a BackgroundWorker to scan your hard disk (see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.componentmodel.backgroundworker.aspx ) then you can periodically report progress to the UI thread by calling the ReportProgess() method. This raises the ProgressChanged event which can then be handled in an appropriate manner. A ProgressBar control is often used for this purpose.
