threading in vb .net

Question

I have to answer the following question: write the method call to begin running the thread and begin processing. (a) Namespace = testProject (b) form to run = frmMain Out of the things that I have read everything I have gathered suggests that I can only thread something that is a method. It never mentions anything about namespaces or forms. If this makes sence to anyone or if anyone can refer me to some good literature please let me know. Thank you!

And of course I forgot the _thread.start(); line in the main() function. Sorry.

You can't thread a form or a namespace because both aren't discrete pieces of code. You CAN put the form in a separate thread using this method: class MyApplication { MyForm form = new MyForm(); public static void main(string[] args) { Thread _thread = new Thread(new ThreadStart(runApp)); // do stuff. } public static void runApp() { System.Windows.Forms.Application.Run(form); } } This method has one problem: if you want to modify the GUI from the main thread you risk synchronization problems.

The namespace and the form don't really have much to do with the thread. They seem to be separate requirements. Create a threadstart object passing that method as a parameter to its constructor then pass that threadstart to your thread object's constructor as a parameter. You would have to write a method that creates a thread giving it the address of another method which would do the processing.
