Updated changes not saving to database table

Question

Hi This is my code : public List ReadNotification(int memberId int NotificationId) { using (KiwiDbContext context=new KiwiDbContext(_ConnectionString)) { NotificationData nd = new NotificationData(); nd.IsRead = true; var query = (from n in context.Notifications where n.MemberID == memberId && n.NotificationID == NotificationId && n.IsRead == false select new NotificationData { NotificationID = n.NotificationID Message = n.Message CreatedTime = n.NotificationTime IsRead = nd.IsRead }); return query.ToList(); context.SaveChanges(); } This execution is done but the updated result is not saving to database table Please give me a correct code for that. I have not given like nd=context.NotificationData.where(m=>m.NotificationId==NotificdationId). ToList(). i have given like nd=context.NotificationData.where(m=>m.NotificationId==NotificdationId). FirstOrDefault(); and after context.Savechanges(); write below code var query = (from n in context.Notifications where n.MemberID == memberId && n.NotificationID == NotificationId && n.IsRead == false select new NotificationData { NotificationID = n.NotificationID Message = n.Message CreatedTime = n.NotificationTime IsRead = nd.IsRead }); return query.ToList(); Please Check the code properly...and implement it. if still there any issue then please lets discuss with me

Yes I am using our code but it show an error like this Error 17 Cannot implicitly convert type 'System.Collections.Generic.List ' to 'Kiwi.Service.Model.NotificationData' D:\26-09-2015\service\Kiwi.Service.DL\DataAccess.cs 244 21 Kiwi.Service.DL

just write context.SaveChanges(); after nd.IsRead = true; Like nd.IsRead = true; context.SaveChanges(); and check once

I am updated IsRead column when IsRead is False then true when i call this api like this : api/notifications/read?notificationid= Then IsRead column is updated with true (1).
