A DataSet is an in-memory collection of data retrieved from a data source and can consist of one or more DataTable objects. It is a core part of disconnected architecture of ADO.NET. Consider for example that you have Suppliers and Shipments tables from which you retrieve data frequently into a C# application. Instead of making 100's of round trips to the database server you store data from these tables in a DataSet object which is stored locally and perform all your data manipulations on the DataSet object. When you want to submit changes back to the database you can do that through the DataSet. Using a DataSet gives you faster and more efficient performance. Hai Dataset is an object which contains a set of datatables and u can access each datatables by ds.table[0].It is mainly used when u return results from a stored procedure which contains one or more datatables. With Regards P.Krishna Prasad
