how is the StackLayout used in android?

is it possible to use the stacklayout in xamarin android platform while not using xamarin forms? if it is then how do i go about itif it is not then which is the alternative?

Actually that is a control of Xamarin.Forms not just for Android but for iOS and other frameworks as well. If you want to target Android only (and not the other frameworks) you can then use the LinearLayout it would be much closer to what this control provides and supports. LinearLayout would be useful but not that much... RelativeLayout in Android is much cleaner... Can you share the purpose or reason why you want to ignore Xamarin.Forms and still want to use that control? :-)

Oh since this is a row x column format I would recommend that you use GridLayout. Then you can inflate the layout for this and set up the child controls (image buttons in your code).

I am a beginner trying to learn Android development using xamarin. Iam working on an application that needs to have three image buttons across one row and three image buttons along one column thus a total of 9 image buttons in the Main layout(like a 3 by 3 grid of image buttons). is there any other approach I can use? Thank you.
