hi i am thorough with vb 6.0 application developement and now planning to step on vb.net what do you think as how should i start with and what is the first thing that i should learn as i am thorough with the basics of vb 6.0

You may want to consider transitioning to C# instead of VB.NET. Either way you go there is a substantial learning curve and learning C# would pay higher dividends in the long run. VB.NET and VB are quite a bit different from eachother. -James
