Chandu first WCF used to create service which supports different protocols like HTTP  TCP  Named Pipes and MSMQ as transport protocol. So basically WCF used in ASP.Net to create services because WCF services supports HTTP protocol. So finally you can say WCF replaced Web Services. use of WCF in asp.net ???? In simple to achieve SOA(Service Oriented Architecture). If you want to know what is SOA refer the below url: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Service-oriented_architecture As you know there is a way already exist to achieve the same using ASMX (normal) webservices. There are lot of benefits given by WCF that's why WCF has a bit more success over than Webservices. Hi Chandu WCF is a generic communication mechanism that allows you to setup generic client/host communication between two parties . In olden times we used to do this asmx web services but they are becoming obsolete and WCF is being widely used . WCF is quite powerful and it combines the features of plain old asmx web services Remoting and MS Message Queuing .
