WebAPI- Contract info

Question

Hi,

 I am new to webapi and have following questions:

In webservice there is a contract, from which consumer knows about the schema and generates the proxy class from it.

In webapi i believe there is no Contract.Then how the client knows about the contract, and how he can structure the request properly?

 

Can you guys give the sample link for how webapi can be consumed in ASP.NET MVC web page application?
