What happens when you change the web.config file at run time?

it's not a good idea realize that any change you make to web.config will result in the application being restarted on your webserver. This means all the sessions go bye-bye. The best way to store dynamic data like this that doesn't have to be in web.config is in a database or a xml config file you can parse at runtime without interrupting the flow of things

Hi Rahul If you change the Web.Config at runtime the Web Application will be restarted and all the users who are using the application currently will get an error message Service Unavailable. It is not recommended at all to change the Web.Config while the application is running. Before changing the Web.Config one should give a downtime to the application's users.

ASP.NET invalidates the existing cache and assembles a new cache. Then ASP.NET automatically restarts the application to apply the changes.
