What is an assembly binding redirect

I am developing a assembly but some problem is arrive hear. The problem is "What is an assembly binding redirect? Where are the places an administrator or developer can affect how assembly binding policy is applied ?"

As an example you are communicating with an assembely version 1.0.0.0 is stored in GAC. Tomorrow you get new version of assembely in GAC say 1.0.0.1 and start commuicating. I hope you are aware we can two different version of assembely with same name. In order to communicate with right version of assembely OR case where we want to switch the version back and fourth bindingRedirect can be used defined in web.config file. Hope it clears you.
