In any software project once a module is completed developers do unit testing and then qa team will execute their test cases. While testing if they find any issues like UI alignment functionality missing or runtime errors then they would log it as defect and specify the severity of the issue. Like if icon is not placed properly in a table then it should be a minor issue and if user cannot proceed further in testing due to an issue then it would be high serverity bug. Defect tracking tool is used by the testers to log the defects and assign them to the development lead. Once the issue is fixed status is changed to fixed and testers test the fix. Defect logging is opening a defect and set the priority severity and a screenshot of the defect in the application and reproduction steps.
