What is indexer? What's the purpose of this?

Indexers can be used to handle an object as if it was an array. Code wise an indexer looks alot like a property. Here is an example of a class that defines an indexer: class SomeClass { private string[] someData = new string[3]; //The Indexer public string this [int index] { get { return data[index]; } set { data[index] = value; } } } Here is an example of a console client using the indexer of our class above. class ConsoleClient { public static void Main() { SomeClass x = new SomeClass(); x[0] = Hello; x[1] = World; x[2] = 23445; Console.WriteLine(Index value at 0 =  + x[0]); } } Hope this helps Dom
