MachineKey is used for: ViewState encryption and validation Forms Authentication uses this key for signing the authentication ticket Having a Web App installed on multiple servers requires same Machine Key configured on all of them in order for Load Balancing to work. Hi James Whenever you make use of ViewState Session Forms authentication or other encrypted and/or secured values ASP.NET uses a set of key s to do the encryption and decryption. Normally these key s are hidden and automatically generated by ASP.NET every time your application recycles. or even we can create hard-coded machine Key s also.... Thanx Pravin.
