To the extent that TDD utilizes test cases to define requirements, it can be useful and can be consistent with well-established system design methodology developed over tha past half a century or more. To the extent that TDD is used without the methodology of determining requirements as thoroughly as possible before proceeding further in a development project, TDD can easily be Mess Driven Development. It is easy to start developing without fully understanding what needs to be done. That can often be a big mistake. TDD can be a mistake if it is used in that manner. I hope you spend time learning more traditional development methodologies. Emphasis on the development lifecycle is a very useful part of that.
