What is the Dependency Property?

Hi I am new to WPF.I want a simple example of Dependency property? why we require DP?

You can consider Dependency properties like simple CLR properties with some additional features provided. Additional features include Power of Binding these to simple CLR property support for animation and so on. For example: Consider bellow xaml code snippet: TextBox Text ={ Binding Path =EmpName} /> Here Text is Dependency Property defined under class TextBox. So to this Dependency Property I bound EmpName which is simple CLR property.
