what is the exception in C#?

What is Exception? How it will come into picture while program is running? How many Exceptions are supported by the C#?

Program is a bunch of code with some conditions. That conditions makes abnormal flow. such as stack full(Example infinite loop ->for(){} ) or not possible conditions( Example data type conversion problem like int to string).

Exception is a runtime error or event which disturbs the desired flow of program. Any such error or event at runtime if not handled in code is thrown as exception. Few exception that i have come across are NullReferenceException InvalidOperationException ArgumentNullException IndexOutofRangeException ArgumentException ExternalException.
